Chemical Injection

This is a process of injecting chemicals into a moving waste stream to clean the water. Often referred to as coagulation and flocculation, this process uses small pumps to meter in precise amounts of chemicals into a waste stream.

  • Pro: If the waste stream is constant in its make-up (types and levels of contaminants), this process can produce high-quality treated water.

  • Con: Does not handle well a constant variation of pollutants in the waste stream requiring frequent chemical adjustments; plus chemicals can be expensive and tricky to deal with.
